Dr. Lingo uses composite materials exclusively for fillings. Composite resin is a tooth colored filling material made of resin reinforced with silica or porcelain particles. In addition to esthetics, a composite contains no mercury and is superior in strength to amalgam (silver fillings that contain mercury). Dr. Lingo has not used materials that contain mercury since 2000. To date mercury has already been banned in Austria, Canada, Denmark, Germany and Sweden.

Additional advantages to tooth colored fillings are the preservation of  tooth structure and since the material contains no mercury, biocompatibility is optimized.
