Mini dental implants are very small in diameter, about the size of a wooden toothpick. Insertion is a relatively painless procedure done under local anesthetic. Mini implants are used primarily in the lower jaw but can also be used in the upper jaw for greater stability of the upper denture. The entire process takes about an hour with little or no recovery time. Patients can usually enjoy a light meal an hour after the procedure.
